Our Wintery Route through Poland

In January and February 2022 we traveled for 3 weeks through a wintery Poland.

This is the route we took, from the Lithuanian border to the German border, crisscrossing Poland, 2,358 km:

We recorded our route with a Spot X, 2-Way Satellite Messenger. This means that we can be followed by our loved ones at any time, regardless of telephone reception, via satellite. But above all, this allows us to broadcast an emergency signal at any place in the world if necessary, should this be necessary in an emergency.

Our experiences in Poland

From the Lithuanian border we drive through the northeast of Poland through rural areas. Winter makes up for the relative dullness of the landscape.

We drive a short stretch of highway and meet Matthieu and Aurore at the exit of the highway in a precarious situation. Their overlander is “en panne” with an empty battery. We tow the car to a safe place and charge its battery with our battery cables.

After a joint lunch in their car, while the battery is charging, we can both hit the road again, they go to the garage and we continue into Poland.

We find exceptional camping spots again.

Along the way, I can’t resist the temptation to make a snowman.

We visit the capital Warsaw in the rain, in the blog Polish cities in winter you will find our story.

On January 29, 2022 at 13:14 we reach a milestone for our Milady Landy:

We drive into the Tatra Mountains, part of the Carpathians. The winter sports resort of Zakopane is becoming whiter during our stay, which is nice to experience.

After Zakopane we leave the white winter behind us. We entertain ourselves with beautiful routes through the Polish landscape and enjoy long walks in the varied nature.

You can read about our other experiences in Poland in the blogs on the Poland page.

Our further route

After Poland we travel through Germany and Denmark to take the ferry to Iceland in March 2022.

We expect to be back in the Netherlands in the summer of 2022.
