How do you make plans in a time when the world is locked down and it is not clear where and when we can travel again?
For the time being we are in the Netherlands and will remain so for a while …
Our house has been sold
We sold our house on 1 February 2021, in our mid-November newsletter we already wrote:
Of course this is accompanied by mixed feelings, I (Gert Jan) have converted this house with my own hands into the comfortable farmhouse that it is today. In this house our 4 children grew up, played and partied in the tree house. We have given countless parties here in the barn, birthdays, weddings, graduations, etc. and celebrated Pentecost weekends with the family. We have cried and laughed, partied and mourned here, in short we have been happy here.
Nevertheless, we have decided to leave this beautiful house to new residents who can become happy again in their own way.

At 10:15 we handed over keys and the purchase contract was signed at the notary in Etten-Leur, for us at a distance, in connection with the Covid-19 guidelines. Patrick and Kim are very happy with their purchase and we are happy that a nice young family can become happy in this beautiful place.

We followed the signing of the purchase contract in our Milady Landy and then set out for new adventures.

Just on the spot
First we had the plan to travel to Asia, Turkey, Iran and further after last summer. Corona put a stop to that, more and more infections in Europe and second and third Covid-19 waves through the Asian countries.
Then we thought that we would travel in the reasonable safety of Europe. Scandinavia in winter and the northern lights are still high on our bucket list. We have prepared the car for winter and also purchased the necessary winter clothing for ourselves. Unfortunately, corona does not appear that easy to combat and one border after another has recently been closed. We have therefore postponed traveling to Norway.
We have decided to stay in the Netherlands for the coming period. Actually nice, because after emptying our house and preparing Milady, we are both ready for some relaxation.
For now we have our base with friends. Our previous stay with Andee and Machteld went well and we can enjoy the space and luxury of their home and the friendship with each other.
Over the summer Andee and I set up some experiments, ginger-ale (long gone), nut wine and poire belle Hélène (we haven’t tasted it yet) and apple cider. We tried the apple cider together in the evening on the 1st of February and found it good …

A nice bubble in the bottle and in the glass and a nice fresh taste.
So for the time being we will stay in the Netherlands and hope that, after we have been vaccinated, we can travel a little in Europe again.
