Pieterpad day 4, stage 4: Zuidlaren-Rolde

After a delicious breakfast and a pleasant conversation with our hostess and host, we leave for a cold and, because the snow occasionally turns into rain, especially wet day.

Peter advised us not to skip Dennenoord in particular and to take a good look at the war memorial.

Despite the cold and rain, we fully enjoy the Drenthe landscape.

Further on we cross the Gasterse dunes …

… with a nice little hunebed.

After lunch we walk through strong wind and rain towards the Balloërveld …

… an old military training ground where sheep now graze.

We are cold and tired when we arrive in Rolde at Marianne and Henk ten Buur, where we are welcomed with coffee, tea and beautiful stories.
