Encounters in Sweden

After our experiences in the autumn forests of Denmark and Sweden, it is time for some encounters in Sweden. Conni and Alexander invited us to their home near Alingsås. We find, via a challenging TET route, a nice camping spot in Fagersanna. Later we meet Jenneke who wants to show us Karlstad.

Conni and Alexander

Conni and Alexander are German adventurers who have settled in Sweden, near the town of Alingsås. They have been following us for a while on our Facebook page and via this blog.

We have quite a bit in common.
First of all, the travel bug. They have lived and worked in all kinds of places in the world, but most importantly, they have also traveled through Africa with a Land Rover Series. Two years before we left, they made a whole tour in western, southern and eastern Africa. They wrote a blog about this: Series 2 Africa.

In addition, they have two grown daughters who have flown around the world and have been together for many years and recently married for 25 years.

When we arrive at them we immediately click, we have plenty of topics to talk about and we feel right at home. We cook together and we enjoy the temporary luxury of their home. In the end we stay 3 nights, go into town with Conni and exchange travel and other life experiences. We were strangers when we arrived in Alingsås and left as friends with the promise that we would meet again somewhere in the world.

Trans Euro Trail and camping in Fagersanna

Departing from Conni and Alexander, we drive on largely unpaved roads towards Karlstad. We follow a challenging part of the TET-route in Sweden.

We find a nice place to sleep through Park4Night, on one of the many lakes in the area, near the town of Fagersanna.

Jenneke shows us Karlstad

Sonja’s ex-colleague Jenneke currently lives mainly in Sweden. She invited us to discover Karlstad with her. She has lived there for a long time and can guide us.

After a delicious lunch in restaurant Zest, we visit the Sandgrund museum, which is completely dedicated to Karlstad-born artist Lars Lerin.

A special collection of crockery is displayed in the canteen of the museum.

Despite the weather forecast, it remains dry when we take a city walk with Jenneke.

The waitress who has been given a prominent place on the river seems to have had such a sunny disposition that the city has derived its nickname “city of the sun” from this.
