Vincent van Gogh in Etten-Leur (and Brabant)
In our hometown Etten-Leur, more and more attention is paid to the periods he spent here with his parents, his father was a minister in the protestant church of Etten.
For those who want to follow Vincent’s footsteps, the Van Gogh church and the Vincent van Gogh house are definitely worth a visit.

Van Gogh in Spain
When we return from Morocco, one of the things we notice is the organized vegetable production that takes place on the south coast of Spain. Fruit and vegetables are grown for export in an infinite number of (plastic) greenhouses.
The different producers enthusiastically recommend their vegetables:

The sunflowers of southern France
From the Spanish-French border to Auvers-sur-Oise we see sunflower fields, sometimes as an alternation between the vineyards and weat and corn fields, sometimes endlessly reaching to the horizon.
Beautiful in their simplicity and pure yellow color tones.

Auvers sur Oise
Inspired by the sunflowers and because of our Etten “roots” we decide to make a stopover in Auvers-sur-Oise. This village is located about 30 km northwest of Paris and is easily accessible by train from Paris.

We drive past it with our Milady Landy and find a parking space next to the station.
We walk to the Office de Tourisme and get a map with a walk along the sights in the village. In addition to Vincent van Gogh, Cézanne and Corneille have also painted here.

The walk takes us past the inn where Vincent stayed (unfortunately closed due to Covid-19), to the castle of Auvers and the cemetery where he was buried exactly 130 years ago today by his brother Theo and some friends.

It is nice to see how the places that Van Gogh painted have been beautifully preserved.
