Today we walk the first part of the Pieterpad (walking route from Pieterburen to the St. Pietersberg near Maastricht over 500 km). This stage goes from Pieterburen to Winsum, 12km to start.
A while without our Milady Landy, she has been parked in Breda for a month.

We start this morning with a delicious breakfast at our guest address for last night, the b&b Waddenhoes in Pieterburen.

Then we put on our walking shoes and put our backpacks on our backs and walk to the starting point of the Pieterpad.

It is a cold, gray day, but that only stimulates us to keep going. Beautiful paths through the polders and along the mounds (wierden) of north Groningen.

Despite the inclement weather, there are still several walkers and along the route we are encouraged by enthusiastic local residents with Easter eggs.

After all, it is Easter today.
There are also plenty of daffodils in bloom along the road, or Easter lilies as Sonja calls them.

We drink a cup of coffee and tea at the Mensingewier windmill and are briefed by the miller and the ladies of the coffee bar.

Actually walking is going quite well, we are already in Winsum before 2 am, the most beautiful village in the Netherlands (apparently).

And that seems to be true …
