Pieterpad day 13, stage 12: Holten-Laren

Beautiful Twente and Achterhoek from Holten to Laren, shady country roads and beautiful farms, country houses and estates. The sun shines all day and we keep our spirits up.

At the Albert Heijn in Holten we get some sandwiches for lunch, then we start our day stage.

The sun is shining brightly, we enjoy the beautiful narrow and hollow country roads.

After a few kilometers we cross the A1, in the 1970s this road ran straight through Holten.

We hear the traffic for a long time, but the landscape of country and sandy roads with farms continues on the south side of the highway.

The Schipbeek was once an important trade connection between Deventer and Twente, now this brook has been “tamed”.

We have lunch on the side of the path, sitting on our rain poncho, in the sun and out of the wind.

The huge Verwolde estate with Huis Verwolde includes various farms, forests, fields, avenues and paths.

We take it easy today and take the time to drink a cup of coffee and tea on the way.

In the course of the afternoon we arrive in Laren and we rest on our bed in the B&B with Mrs. Nijkamp.
